Jessica Means

Records Specialist 2

she/her

Jessica brings a dual perspective to her role as Records Specialist 2 at the Office of the Corrections Ombuds. Her work at OCO spans intake, internal records systems, public records, and technical assistance, as well as active participation in work groups that strengthen OCO’s oversight mission. She has been with the agency since its early years and has played an integral role in shaping its processes, culture, and organizational infrastructure. Jessica also serves as Executive Director of New Connections, a Tacoma-based nonprofit providing transitional housing and support for women releasing from incarceration and holds degrees in Human Services and Sociology with Community Organizing emphasis from Tacoma Community College and The Evergreen State College in Tacoma. Her personal lived experience with reentry is the foundation of her commitment to this work and a constant reminder of why independent oversight and access to information matter. Outside of work Jessica is an avid reader, traveler, and a proud plant and cat mom.
