The OCO is looking for our next Healthcare Assistant Ombuds (Nurse). This position is an opportunity to use your medical skills and experience in a non-clinical setting to help ensure the health, safety, welfare and rights of incarcerated individuals. In this role, you will be responsible for investigations involving medical-related complaints, reviews of unexpected fatalities occurring within the Department of Corrections (DOC) facilities, and for participating as a member of the Office of Corrections Ombuds (OCO) healthcare team and consulting with OCO staff related to medical cases. You will rely on your extensive medical background to review records and information, manage sensitive situations, demonstrate sound judgment, and engage professionally with different groups including incarcerated individuals, family members, and Department of Corrections staff.
